Darren Kelly qualified with an honours degree in Sports Therapy from University of Bedfordshire, UK in 2006. Darren set up his own clinic in Greystones, Co Wicklow creating an excellent working relationship with local clubs. In 2007, Darren took up an orthopedic sales and surgical assistant job which helped enhanced his understanding of soft tissue injuries and how surgical techniques are carried out. This has given him a great insight into how to treat and rehab these cases. Darren was surgically trained to scrub in and would assist during live surgery, for example, during anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and rotator cuff repairs. In 2009, Darren worked in Sydney, Australia for 3 months fitting orthotic insoles and providing treatments such as deep tissue massage, rehabilitation and stretching. In 2010, he established DK Orthotics & Injury Clinic within Base2Race which was created by athletes, for athletes bringing 7 specialists in the one location. From 2010 – 2013, Darren also lectured part time a Sports Therapy Diploma course run by the Blackrock College of Further Education. Darren has continued upskilling with courses in dry needling, biomechanics and orthotics assessment and prescription, shock wave therapy, low level laser therapy and running re-education.

Darren has a keen interest in Triathlon and multi-disciplinary events.
